Rules and Regulations
This contest is for all you people who have been waiting for Strange Fate, and for new readers, too! It is for a coffin purse (anybody remember those? This one is absolutely gorgeous—so well-made, such quality, so lovely to handle) filled with goodies, and you can win it with a single email.
The winner of the Strange Fate is Coming Contest will also receive a personalized autographed copy of Witchlight, the last book in Night World series before Strange Fate, or any other book in the Night World series that they prefer. The 2nd place prizes, which will go to five runners up, will be an autographed hardback copy of a Night World book. Please note that this contest is open to all countries, but that you must be responsible for any customs forms or duty taxes which may be levied by your government (this does not apply to entrants in the USA, obviously).
Attention! Please, please follow this rule about putting Strange Fate is Coming Contest in the subject field exactly. If you write the Contest or Strange Fate Contest or Contest for Strange Fate or anything other than Strange Fate is Coming Contest, I won’t be able to find your email when it comes time to alphabetically sort my emails and give them to an attorney to have the winner drawn. If you are copying news of the contest for some other site, please include this rule in the copy.
The Strange Fate is Coming Contest will run from January 5 until March 17. After the winner has been drawn, s/he will be notified. Don’t bother to enter if you only have a P.O. box address that you can give, because we don’t ship to those, or if you never check your email, because if I can’t get an address from you, I can’t send you your prize. Incidentally, I have no interest at all in sending you anything other than your prize, like publicity announcements or such, as everyone who has ever won a prize from my contests will affirm.
Send your entry to lisa@theljsmith.com. If you would like to mention why you would like Strange Fate to come out, why you like my books in general, or anything else about my series, be assured that I will read it. You can also send a blank email, if you are a blank or a cold and empty person.
Just a note to people who have no interest at all in my particular books, but who go about online entering all contests they find: be ashamed! At least in this particular case. You are taking the contest away from legitimate, loving readers of mine and turning it into a commercial enterprise. I can’t stop you, but I will know who you are. I may hex you. Remotely. No offense.¹
Also, one entry per email address—and I mean this. I can see how many times you have entered, and extra entries will be deleted. And don’t go making a bunch of extra email accounts, either, because it’s likely that you’ll forget them or the password by March 17, and then you’ll lose your prize. If the prizewinner does not respond to my email, in ten days I will pick another.
Good luck in winning the Strange Fate is Coming contest! May the odds . . . well, you know.
¹Any resemblance to actual hexing purely coincidental. No actual hexing even occurs TBH. In fact, you might find yourself weirdly blessed. Maybe. It could happen. Like with an extra nose.
