From: Chloe Vaughan-
Your books on the vampire diaries have encouraged me to write. My name is Chloe Vaughan and I’m 13 years old and I’m starting a book and I’ve tried so hard to contact you but I don’t think anything worked so please if you get this I’d like your help.

I just had a quick question, really. I make music playlists for when I’m reading so I can really get into the books. In The Chosen, she mentions the music in Quinn’s little club thing where they’re kidnapping the girls to take to the island. I was just wondering what kind of music it is? I want to add it to my playlist if she can give some examples.

I re-read your books all the time, I can’t even describe how much they mean to me! I just re-read the Night World series this August. I’ve loved your books since I first started reading them in 2012, and ever since then I have never stopped holding out hope for Strange Fate. I even re-read the short stories on your website because I love the characters you create so much!
I hope you are doing well, I know many of us have been wondering how you are. I’ve developed health issues of my own these past few years and I know how debilitating they can be. I’m so happy to see that it looks like you are doing well.
From: Kathy Limoges-
Lisa, I’m so happy to see that you’re still doing what you love. I know my opinion is a bit biased because I have a stake invested in the outcome. That being said thank you for bringing so many characters to life for so many people. Thank you for giving us all an escape from the hectic day-to-day lives we live. If I hoped for anything it has been the final books in the Night World series. Looking forward, maybe novellas or novels that bring a little bit of each Night World couple into the spotlight. After the apocalypse…
Of course, anything that you write is sure to pique my interest. Thank you!

I want LJ to know that her Night World series was a big part of my tween/teenage years. It’s what really got me into reading again and has even inspired me to write my own little short stories from time to time. I honestly never thought the books were coming, and didn’t mind, because her health is more important than anything, but it makes me happy to know she still has the passion to write these books even after such a long pause and I’m quite grateful for it. She paved the way for my favorite genre, and Night World will always be one of my favorite series. Not to mention, it’s the book series my grandmother and I have read time and time again together. I don’t think anything will ever beat it.

This moment still feels surreal! I can’t wait to hear more from L. J. herself and to read the new books. I feel myself tearing up just thinking about it. I’m a fan who discovered L. J. Smith’s work through the republishing of her novels in the late 2000s, early 2010s, making me part of the second generation of her readers. Since English is not my first language, I had the chance to read her novels (all of them!) in French and English. Her work is actually what got me into literature. At the moment, I’m completing a Ph. D. in literary studies, focusing on strong female characters… and I know a part of this project is definitely somehow inspired by L. J.’s work and the worlds she created. I still read her books every single year. There are no other books that can comfort me and make me dream like her Night World series Thank you and wishing you the best

Hearing this new update on LJ Smith has honestly made my week – and to know she’ll be releasing new books makes my heart so happy. I was 10 years old when I first picked up The Forbidden Game and I read it front to back over and over again for years until I discovered the rest of the trilogy. As a 30 year old woman now, with two babies of my own, I would love to hear more of Jenny and Julian’s story – I remember there once being talk of a fourth and final book called Rematch potentially being written? I would love if this were still a plan or could potentially be a plan? … Either way, so happy to hear LJ Smith is ok and still writing, the absolute best news ever and I’m sending all my love to her!

I just want her to know that I’m so happy to hear that her health is improved and that I’ve never stopped wondering how she’s doing all of these years. I just did a reread of The Forbidden Game earlier this year and had my boyfriend read them as well. I can’t wait for any and all future work by her and I’m super excited for all the updates!

Christmas came early for me. I’m so incredibly happy to hear Strange Fate is coming. It’s time for me to pull out the series and re-read again for the umpteenth time!! I discovered LJ in the early to mid 90s. I found the Forbidden Game trilogy and was hooked from then on!! Still my favorite series along with the NW series!. I truly love these characters and I’m really hoping to see an Ash and Mary Lynette reunion. He’s had plenty of time to work on himself! And thank you LJ Smith for your hard work, dedication and amazing writing. When I pass a street light and it blinks off I still think about you. *wink*

I truly can’t thank you enough Lisa for your amazing stories. I fell in love with your books as a teenager and passed them down to my daughter when she was a preteen. Your work has inspired my intense lifelong love of reading. I am a full time artist who paints books (fore-edge painting) and I probably should credit you for leading me towards that path as well. If I never had Julian, Ash, Gabriel or the Salvatore brothers to guide me into the world of romantic fantasy I don’t think I would be where I am today. You gave me worlds to escape to when life became tough and I believe my daughter would also say the same. I really hope this reaches you and that you are doing well.
Sending all the thanks and love I can give
April

I can not describe how happy I am right now. I’ve been waiting for the release of Strange Fate for over half my life. Lisa you are one of my favorite authors and I hope you know how much your work and the worlds you have created have impacted many lives and provided a much needed escape for the readers.I really hope the release of Strange Fate will be very soon. I think I’ll reread the Night World books while waiting to refresh my memory. Wish you the best 🙂

Happy thanksgiving, Lisa! It makes me happier than you could imagine to see you doing well and writing again. I hope you have a lovely week filled with love, puppy kisses and turkey!
As for next works, I’ll read anything you write. Quite literally. But I’d love to see that fourth Forbidden Game book come to fruition.

Sending her love! I’m sorry I never got to see the TV adaptation of Secret Circle. Those books were the first of hers I read and I don’t have cable or satellite or streaming and they never put it on DVD. My biggest worry ever right now is that when these books finally come out I’m going to be too broke to buy them. I have to figure it out somehow, because I waited this long. I think I was 12 when the first Secret Circle book came out and was on the shelf in Kmart and I read every one of her books that came out after that. I loved the artwork on the original copies and I wish even though I don’t have much wall space that they’d made posters of the covers because they seemed to depict the characters so well and the flavor of the stories.
My heart can barely bear to hope that Strange Fate and more books are finally coming out. I can still remember going in Waldenbooks every month for years, asking if the book had come out yet. I didn’t know how to use the internet back then I didn’t have access to it anyway so I had no other way to find out. Even the internet hasn’t told this much now that I know how to use it better. I have devoured every scrap of information I could along the way but I’m sure I missed some things. I can barely wait to finally read the conclusion of the Night World and see what happens from there.
I would love to see more stories in the Night of the Solstice line if that ever happens because I always been a fan of Arthurian legend. I hope one day to write some of my own books but I don’t know if I’ll ever have the time and focus I need to accomplish that. I’ll just be happy enough if I can squeeze in enough time to read the ones I love for now and, as I said, I eagerly await these as I have for decades. The day I can finally escape into the final chapter of the Night World has been a long time coming but worth every moment of the wait.

I still occasionally reread Night World and Forbidden Games..very much still comfort reads..I turned 37 2 days ago initially read as a preteen
Very much looking forward to an ending to the Night World and any and all new material she creates , welcome back Lisa and thanks for making my birthday even more perfect with the announcement.

Still feels surreal to see this part of my life resurrected like this so suddenly. The Night World series was and still is (at 30yo) a sort of shelter for me. But initially, back when I first read them, I can’t explain how it healed my soul and my faith in the world and humanity. Love and goodness triumphing, and not the Hollywood kind but low-key and soft and honest. I’m not sure if it’s similar to the rest of the fans but I wanted to say thank you.
From: Stephanie Huff-
TNW was one of her series’ that I read later in life. Not sure how it escaped me as a teenager…I blame the library for not carrying it but I feel the same way about her other works; Forbidden Game is my favorite book series of all time. That series and those characters have lived rent free in my head for the last 30 years and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. LJ just has a way of writing that makes you care about the characters within a chapter, something that authors struggle to do throughout the entirety of a book or series. Her characters are real and subtle and heartfelt. And while the subject matter is vampires and demon princes it’s written so realistically.

L J Smith is the reason I began to read books when I found her first Night World book at 13. She has ignited a passion for reading and writing for me that has not stopped. I was severely dyslexic as a child and her books helped me to massively improve my abilities to read and write leading me to a successful education and career. I have been a big fan for a long time and am so pleased to hear she is doing well and will be finishing her series after everything she has been through. I greatly appreciate her dedication to her fans.
